Alex grew up in a normal Christian home. He knew farming, school, and went to church every time the doors were open. On the surface he looked like an all-American boy. As he neared his 18th birthday, something changed. His 3.75 GPA wasn’t enough. Military school wasn’t enough. Even his newborn son, who was born on his birthday, wasn’t enough to keep him from meth. It was only after a decade of being in and out of jail did he end up in the Good News’ Life Change Program at the Henderson County Detention Center where God revealed to him his wretchedness. Rev. Steve Brown has been in jail and prison ministry for over 40 years. One could just sit all day and listen to him naturally and passionately talk about the Lord and all that He has done. His love for God just effortlessly flows out. Below is just a snippet of how he volunteers in the Henderson County Detention Center and what it’s like to minister one on one with an inmate.

The Answer Center in Henderson, Ky. helps hundreds of people every week with all sorts of clothing needs, minor kitchen and toiletry needs, but most of all with their spiritual needs. Each week volunteers converge on the center to assist people with their physical needs, and to share the Gospel with them.
